Smooth refinancing experience!

I just refinanced my home with Academy Mortgage, doing a Cash-Out Refinance, and the whole process was so easy! My loan officer was fantastic and kept me informed every step of the way. I got a great rate and the lender credit really helped with closing costs. I'm so happy I chose them and will definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a mortgage!

Good service, a few hiccups

I used Academy Mortgage for a Conventional Home Loan earlier this year. My loan officer was helpful and explained things pretty clearly. The process itself was mostly smooth, but there were a couple of delays with document processing that extended the closing time by about a week. The rates were competitive, and I appreciated the closing cost assistance I received. Overall, a solid experience, but they could improve on their internal communication to avoid those little snags.

FHA Loan went well

I applied for an FHA Loan with Academy Mortgage a few months ago. The online application was straightforward, but I preferred speaking with a loan officer directly, which I did. He was knowledgeable and patient with all my questions. The Mortgage Pre-approval came through quickly. The closing process took about 30 days, which was what they estimated. All in all, a positive experience for a first-time homebuyer like me. The documents were a lot to go through, but that's expected.

Is Academy Mortgage legit? I know they were acquired by Guild Mortgage recently. Just wanna make sure it's not some weird scam or anything.

W Wendy Vargas 2 months ago
Totally legit. Guild Mortgage is a huge company, so Academy being part of them just makes them even more solid.

Nah, they're fine. I've used them twice now, even before the Guild thing. Good experience both times. They're a real mortgage lender.

Do they actually do those closing cost credits? I keep seeing stuff about lender credits but idk if it's just marketing talk.

P Priya Carter 2 months ago
Yeah, they do! I got one when I bought my house last year. It wasn't a huge amount but every little bit helps.

My loan officer mentioned them. I think it depends on the specific loan program and current promotions. You just gotta ask during your application.

Hey guys, thinking about getting a mortgage through Academy. Are their rates competitive? Like, compared to Rocket Mortgage or something?

D Dana Q. 2 months ago
I just refinanced with them a few months ago, and yeah, their rates were pretty good for a conventional loan. Definitely worth getting a quote.

It really depends on your credit and the current market. I'd say get a quote from them and one from Rocket, then compare. Sometimes the fees make a difference too, not just the rate.

Anyone know how long it usually takes to close with them? Trying to figure out my timeline.

P Priya H. 2 months ago
My FHA loan took about 45 days start to finish, which felt pretty standard.

It can vary a lot. Ours was super quick, like under 30 days, but we had all our docs ready. Friends of ours took longer because of some appraisal delays. Definitely ask your loan officer for a realistic estimate once you're pre-approved.

I'm a first-time homebuyer. Do they have any special programs or discounts for that?

K Kate Reyes 2 months ago
They definitely have first-time buyer programs and can help with down payment assistance. My brother used them for his first house.

Yeah, they do. Talk to a loan officer, they can walk you through the options, like grants or other aid. It's not like a 'discount code' though, more like specific programs they offer.
